Hero Lectro EHX20 launched & investment of Rs.1000 Crores planned for e-cycle business

Hero Cycles, world largest cycle manufacturing company is now focused to bring more electric cycles under the portfolio “Hero Lactro”. To enhance the e-cycle technology Hero Cycles collaborated with well-known Japanese brand Yamaha Motors Co. Ltd.

Lectro EHX20 eCycle:
Hero cycles and Yamaha Motors worked together for the development of Lectro EHX20 electric bike.
Hero Cycles utilizes own expertise of conventional cycles and motor, battery and power electronics taken from the Yamaha Motors.

The Lectro EHX20 range is 60km to 70km on single charge and maximum speed it limited to 25kmph. Shimano 2×10 gear ratios is used for amplifying the speed. Battery charging time is 3.5hr. With the help of paddle assist maximum speed can go up to 35kmph. Currently regular electric cycles or scooters uses BLDC hub motor which is fitted on the rear wheel, but Yamaha Motors has designed a unique motor which is mounted in center at paddle location. This brings the CG (Center of Gravity) of the cycle in the center of the bike as well as at lowest possible location. This configuration helps to drive the electric cycle in sports mode with better stability.

Hero Cycles did partnership with Yamaha Motors and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., A Japan American-owned trading corporation, Main headquarter at Tokyo, Japan and New York, USA. With this partnership Hero Cycles will take the electric powertrain technology support from the Yamaha Motors and utilize the network and business of Mitsui. Company is targetting to sell 45,000 number of Lectro EHX20 this year. Out of that 50% will be exported to UK and European countries. Distribution and marketing support form Mitsui & Co. Ltd and Hero Cycles owned UK-based Avocet Sports will also support in Lectro EHX20 marketing in UK.

Hero Cycles’ electric portfolio has grown significantly in last 6 month and company expect to grow this by high percentage in coming years. To strengthen its e-cycle portfolio in India Hero Cycles is planning to invest 1000Crores on research and development of electric technology, R&D Center and Production plant. Hero Cycles has already acquired UK-based Avocet Sports, a global cycle brand and India based Firefox bikes. Hero Cycle since start in 1956 and till now has grown and now company has manufacturing capacity of 7.5 million cycles per year.

Here Indian bicycle enthusiasts and health conscious people who love cycling gets a very well designed and manufactured product in form of Hero Lectro EHX20. As Yamaha Motors is known for its reliable bike technology and Hero Cycles is always been specialist in manufacturing cycles, So these all together ensures the product quality. Above mentioned other eCycles price is just the base price and now Hero Cycles have electric cycles for sale in Indian market starting from rupees 20,000/- to newly launched Electro EHX20 1.3lakhs. Pricing is little bit higher side but people looking for world class new center motor technology in own electric cycle will definitely go for this product.
