EVs advance charging technology solves the charging infrastructure setup constraints
EVs advance charging technology: You care it or not its growing in every country and the setting up EVs charging infrastructure is one of the major challenge for any government. Even after spending millions of dollar still there are some basic constrain blocking the EVs growth in the market. Challenges like lack of space, parking areas of existing residential and commercial building and activity like ICEing are the major road blocker.
Tech companies and startups are figuring out the solution to the above mentioned problem. At some extend we have succeeded to address the problem with the help of EVs advance charging technology. Companies like Volkswagen, Kuka, Samsung and other have done remarkable work in this area. Let’s let to know who is doing what-
Volkswagen mobile charging robot (EVs advance charging technology)
Volkswagen is seriously engaged in building EVs charging infrastructures and working with its dealers to install 36,000 charging points in Europe. It has also launched its
How does it operate ?
Basically, there are two devices- 1) a robot and 2) a movable energy storage device. In that driver park the car in the parking area and gives the charging command through the mobile application. After receiving the command a robot moves from its location and goes to a mobile energy storage device which is plugged for its own charging. The robot unplug that energy storage device and bring it near to the car. And then it connects the charging cable of energy storage device to the charging port of the car and job is done. The car gets charged and once it’s done that robot come back and take away the energy storage device. This energy storage device works like any other electric vehicle charging station.
Practical uses
Mark Möller, Head of Development at Volkswagen Group Components said- “The mobile charging robot will spark a revolution when it comes to charging in different parking facilities, such as multistorey car parks, parking spaces and underground car parks because we bring the charging infrastructure to the car and not the other way around. With this, we are making almost every car park electric, without any complex individual infrastructural measures. It’s a visionary prototype, which can be made into reality quite quickly, if the general conditions are right,”
SAMSUNG EVAR (NFC enabled EVs advance charging technology)
EVAR (Electric Vehicle Automatic Recharging) is a product of Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture development program. The “C-Lab” is another name for this program.
It is an autonomous EVs charging robot which is activated through the NFC. EVAR is capable to find out the vehicle which requires
As per one Korean
How does the EVAR work?
To use EVAR (Electric Vehicle Automatic Recharging), there is a special ‘auto fill connector’. Just connect the standard EV charging cable to the auto fill connector – mount the ‘auto fill connector’ at the license plate of the car and connect it with the EV charging port. Scan the NFC icon put on the parking column through the mobile application and give the command to the EVAR robot to come and charge your car. That’s all, the robot does it work and once the charging has done it automatically goes to its resting place.
Real life application of EVAR
Setting up charging infrastructures require a lot of planing related to the high voltage power supply, selection of selection of the sufficient area to setup and its accessibility. After that also it is not 100% suitable for the tight parking area. Accessibility is the main issue. Because many times the charging spot is engaged by the which is either in
EVAR is the answer to all the above mentioned problem. It needs a minimal space for its start to end charging operation. Even during charging also it requires minimal space. The entire parking lot becomes available for the electric vehicles. EVAR charging infrastructure suitable for all communal parking lots.
KUKA ‘carla_connect‘ (EVs advance charging technology)
The KUKA is driving ideas and innovations since 1898 and now company is one of the leading supplier of intelligent automation solutions. KUKA robots are working in every industry all around the world. Now the company has developed a very unique robotic technology to simplify the charging experience of semi-autonomous/autonomous electric and hybrid car.
Autonomous charging for EVs and hybrid cars
Automatic charging of autonomous electric vehicles at the touch of a mobile screen makes life easy. To fulfill the same purpose, the KUKA charging assistant ‘carla_connect‘ automatically charges electric or hybrid vehicles via a mobile app. In addition, with the mobility revolution and the autonomous driving functionalities, you will no longer have to worry about searching for parking spaces or plugging in the charging plug of an electric car. The KUKA carla_connect charging robot can be used today to fully automatically charge appropriately equipped electric cars.
My Words (EVs advance charging technology)
European countries are facing this challenge to make each and every charging plug/charging spot more efficient. But for the EVs growing market like India is just focusing on increasing the number of charging stations. We can learn from the other market where the above mentioned all the advance charging option is in the experimental phase. If we could implement something like the above mentioned in India. Then the charging infrastructure will be more efficient and viable in the country. Along with this, it could save the considerable amount of money.
The movable energy storage device could be a good idea also to start a new venture and doing experiments. Because there is still a scope to make it economical and feasible. The second life of any electric car battery might be a good option to go with this technology.
