What Powers the Lexus RX 350h Exquisite?
| Powertrain Specification | RX 350h Exquisite |
| Engine | 2.5L inline 4-cyl, Twin Cam 16-valve (A25A-FXS/A25B-FXS) |

| Rear motor | Permanent magnet, 40 kW / 121 Nm |

| Battery | Ni-MH, 259.2V, 216 cells |
The drivetrain is genuinely AWD. Lexus’s specification lists a front and a rear permanent-magnet motor, with a combined 181 kW/246 PS rating. This is E-Four electronic all-wheel drive: there’s no conventional mechanical propeller shaft connecting the axles. The rear motor delivers drive torque when the system determines it’s needed for traction, rather than driving the vehicle permanently. This shouldn’t be confused with the RX 500h F-Sport+, which uses separate transmission and AWD hardware.
Under suitable conditions, the hybrid system can drive the vehicle using electric power alone. The e-CVT is Lexus/Toyota’s electronically controlled, power-split hybrid transmission, using planetary gearing to blend engine and motor torque rather than a belt-driven CVT or a stepped automatic.
The Ni-MH battery is rated at 259.2V/216 cells.
GA-K Platform and Chassis
The fifth-generation RX uses Toyota-Lexus’s GA-K (TNGA-K) family architecture, engineered for greater structural rigidity and a lower centre of gravity than its predecessor, aimed at improved body control and ride composure.
| Dimensions & Chassis | RX 350h |
| L / W / H | 4,890 / 1,920 / 1,695 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,850 mm |
| Suspension (F/R) | MacPherson strut / multi-link |
| Brakes | Ventilated disc brakes, front and rear |
| Turning radius | 5.9 m |
| Fuel tank | 65 litres |
| Tyres | 235/50 R21 |
Cabin, Refinement and Rear-Seat Comfort
The RX 350h is a five-seater. The Exquisite’s equipment includes electrically reclining rear seats, front and rear seat heating and ventilation, 10-way powered front seats with memory, ambient lighting, a 14-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera and Lexus Safety System+ driver-assistance features.
The petrol engine can shut off under suitable low-load conditions, allowing quiet electric operation. Independent comparative noise testing against German rivals isn’t available, so refinement is a design objective rather than a proven segment win. Rear legroom figures aren’t published; buyers prioritising space should sit in the car first.
Ownership and Warranty
| Ownership Item | Lexus RX 350h |
| Vehicle warranty | 8 years / 2,00,000 km, subject to terms |
| Hybrid battery coverage | 8 years / 2,00,000 km, subject to Lexus India warranty terms |
| Roadside assistance | 5 years |
| Service support | Lexus Luxury Care / applicable packages |
A strong hybrid has fewer conventional wear components than a turbocharged setup — no turbocharger, an e-CVT with fewer moving parts than a multi-stage automatic, and regenerative braking that can reduce brake wear. This doesn’t guarantee lower running costs than a specific rival, which depends on fuel prices, mileage, insurance, servicing and depreciation.
How the RX 350h Compares
Compared with SUVs such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90, the RX 350h uses a strong-hybrid powertrain and five-seat layout, with a specification emphasizing efficiency, rear-seat comfort and Lexus ownership coverage.
