This is E-Four electronic all-wheel drive: there’s no conventional mechanical propeller shaft connecting the axles. The rear motor delivers drive torque when the system determines it’s needed for traction, rather than driving the vehicle permanently. This shouldn’t be confused with the RX 500h F-Sport+, which uses separate transmission and AWD hardware.
